If you are looking for a replacement ABS sensor or wheel speed sensor, then this article is for you 😉
What is an ABS Sensor?
The ABS sensor is located near the wheel and it transmits information about wheel speed, brake pressure, and other data to the car’s computer (ECM). The computer then uses this information to control the braking system
ABS sensors play a very important role in your vehicle’s braking system for making sure that the wheels on your vehicle have matching speeds at all times. If they do not match, ABS will apply brakes to one of them so that it slows down faster than the other one.
What Happens if Malfunction Occurs in an ABS Sensor?
The most common reason for a malfunctioning ABS sensor is dust and corrosion.
This can happen when your car spends time in humid or salty conditions. The salt and moisture seep into the sensor and corrode it from the inside out, making it unreliable and eventually causing it to fail completely.
When an ABS sensor fails, it can lead to a number of issues with your vehicle’s braking system. For example, brake shuddering, jerky stopping, or pulling instead of slowing down smoothly, and ultimately complete loss of braking.
Take Action on Your Brake System Issues Now
It is vital that you replace any faulty ABS sensor as soon as possible because not only will it affect your safety, it could also lead to more expensive repairs. Replacing a faulty ABS sensor with a new one is relatively easy and the process usually takes less than an hour.
